Healthy skin starts with good nutrition.

Your horse's skin and coat are influenced by more than what happens on the outside. Nutrition plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin, coat condition and the body's normal functions, particularly as seasons, weather and environmental conditions change.

DERMAblend is a carefully formulated nutritional supplement combining essential minerals, vitamins, amino acids and naturally derived ingredients to help maintain healthy skin, coat shine and overall condition.

DERMAblend is designed to support:

  • Maintenance of healthy skin and coat

  • Normal skin structure and integrity

  • Coat condition and natural shine

  • Nutritional balance during seasonal changes

  • The nutritional requirements of healthy hair and hoof growth

Understanding your horse's skin

Your horse's skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue.

Together, these layers form a protective barrier and contain structures including hair follicles, blood vessels and connective tissue.

Maintaining normal skin structure requires a balanced supply of essential nutrients, including trace minerals, amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids.

What's inside DERMAblend?

Nettle – A botanical ingredient traditionally used in natural nutrition.

Australian Kelp – A naturally occurring source of minerals and trace elements.

Australian Zeolite – A naturally occurring volcanic mineral included in the formulation.

Mycotoxin Binder – A selected feed-binding ingredient included in the formulation.

Organic Zinc, Magnesium & Copper – Minerals involved in normal physiological functions, including skin and coat maintenance.

Biotin – A B vitamin involved in normal nutrient metabolism and the maintenance of healthy skin and hooves.

Vitamin E – An essential antioxidant nutrient that helps protect cells against oxidative damage.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids – Essential fatty acids that contribute to normal cellular function and skin health.

Methionine – An essential amino acid required for protein synthesis, including proteins involved in hair and hoof structure.

Nutrition through changing seasons

From warmer, insect-heavy months to cooler, wetter conditions, horses experience changing environmental demands throughout the year.

DERMAblend provides a combination of nutrients selected to complement a balanced diet and help maintain healthy skin, coat and hoof condition throughout the seasons.

FAQs

DERMAblend FAQs

Is DERMAblend safe for pregnant or lactating mares?

DERMAblend contains a combination of minerals, vitamins and botanical ingredients selected to support normal skin and coat health. If your mare is pregnant or lactating, we recommend checking with your veterinarian before introducing DERMAblend, as nutritional requirements can change during these stages.

My horse only has skin problems in summer. Do I need to feed DERMAblend all year?

Not necessarily! If your horse's skin tends to be more sensitive during the warmer months, we recommend introducing DERMAblend at the beginning of spring, before seasonal challenges typically begin.

This allows time for the nutrients to become part of your horse's regular feeding routine. DERMAblend can also be fed year-round where appropriate for your horse's individual nutritional needs.

What is the texture of DERMAblend?

DERMAblend is a fine, mineral-rich powder. We recommend lightly dampening your horse's feed before mixing it through. This helps the powder cling to the chaff so none of the goodness gets left behind.

How long does it take to see results?

Every horse is different. Some owners report noticing improvements in coat condition within 2–3 weeks, while others may take 6–8 weeks or longer.

Results depend on factors including your horse's existing diet, nutritional status, environment and individual needs. Consistent feeding and good overall management are important.

Can I give DERMAblend to my dog?

DERMAblend has been formulated specifically for horses, and we don't recommend using it for dogs without veterinary advice.

Dogs have different nutritional requirements, so suitability and dosage would need to be assessed separately.

How much copper is in DERMAblend?

DERMAblend contains 3.5 g of copper per kilogram of product, equivalent to 3.5 mg per gram.

The amount of copper supplied per daily feed will depend on your horse's recommended serving size.

My horse doesn't seem to like DERMAblend. How can I introduce it without feed refusals?

Some horses can be a little fussy when trying something new, particularly with mineral-rich supplements like DERMAblend.

We recommend starting with a small amount and gradually increasing it over several days until you reach the recommended daily serving.

Adding water to your horse's hard feed and mixing thoroughly can also help distribute the powder evenly, making it less noticeable and ensuring it doesn't get left behind. A gradual introduction often makes all the difference.

Still loving this product.

My horses coat has really turned around and other than the occasional scratch he is looking fantastic . Rub marks are gone almost completely and hair returned to its normal colour.
He seems to be less flaky in mane and all together less itchy and whole lot happier.
I have recommend your product to people with horses like mine.
Loving it!!!

Itch improving

My stock horse has been on this for over a year, I have seen his itch improve during this time as he is no longer itchy along his wither and spine and top of his tail. Now it's just the tail and occasionally the first part of his mane.
I have also been using the itch shampoo, conditioner and cream from this site in the last few months and the combo of it all on him is looking promising going into summer.
Photos are May 2025 and Sept 2025

Amazed!!!

We have tried so many shampoos, bug sprays, conditioning treatments and moisturising oils to try stop my horse from scrubbing himself raw.
His neck was lumpy with sores from scratching mane frizzed as was top of tail and rubbed his face bald.
Not to mention the dandruff from being dry coated.
This has work wonders I’m generally amazed in the difference so far. Scabs , lumps n bumps gone , fur has come back in bald patches super shiny , no dandruff and mane and tail growing .
I am about to get more because it seems to have kept the bugs at bay so far.
I’m glad I tried it !!! My only regret I forgot to take before and after pictures. Give it a go!

Updated Review

I put up a review back in May and I wanted to do another one so one’s can see that this product does work. This photo was taken 2 weeks ago and I’m pretty hair with the results! Consistency is key with this product, I now give him 1 scoop every second day, which seems to be managing it. Thank you! 😊

Short term results

I’ve had my horse on this for the last 7 weeks + using another product that goes on the skin and it has gone well. For the first 7 weeks (feeding every second for 4 weeks then everyday for 3 weeks) it went well, I then had surgery and stopped feeding for 2 weeks (as I couldn’t get out to see him) and he’d gone back to itching looked the same as before! I was very disappointed that it had gone backwards.
I going to give it another go (bought another bag) and hope that it works. If it doesn’t work again I’m not going to continue as it’s way too expensive of short term results. Pictures labelled when taken.

Hi Chelsea,
So glad you had great results! With really itchy horses we sugget staying on the loading dose until you start to see results then you can go to the maintenance dose. Our customers who get on top of the itch during the cooler months often see the best results as the supplement and its incredible in igredients are able to help the skin repair from the inside out. We definitely find consistency is the key.

I’ve bought this to help my horse with his itch. Very impressed that he hasn’t turned his nose up at it. Everything else he has. Looking forward to seeing the changes.

Works wonders!!

I have a thoroughbred who’s previously suffered some nasty looking skin issues, since having put Super onto the DERMAblend powder a few months ago I’ve seen some truely amazing results! His coat is brighter then ever & we’re no longer battling away with the itch and skin issues that we had in previous months. This stuff truely works wonders 🙌🏻

QLD Itch Saviour!

I have a mare that suffers (suffered now i guess!) from QLD itch that I was continually rugging, applying topical treatments and trying to manage to no avail. After giving the Dermablend a go, I saw a remarkable difference in as little as four weeks. She has now been on the product for about 8 weeks and her coat is brighter, her mane and tail growing back and i no longer have to hood her which is a relief as she is in a herd paddock and some of the horses like to play "pull the hood over the head...". I have since started feeding Dermablend to a couple of my other horses with other skin irritations and am excited to see the results. It is always important to remember that like a change to a human diet, visible results take time! I could not recommend this product more.
